I had the honor of being asked to join the Gresham High School Administrative Team in 2009 after spending the two previous years as the district’s Director of English Language Learner Programs. I currently work most directly with the English/ELL, Science, and Counseling Departments, as well as facilitating the school’s work on professional development. In addition, a primary focus on my work here is supporting the English Language Learner Programs at both high schools.
My professional career prior to coming to Gresham Barlow includes several years teaching ESL and Spanish at Sunset and Beaverton High Schools, working as a district-level Teacher on Special Assignment supporting ESL Program administration and teacher development in both Beaverton and Reynolds, and working as a independent consultant for school districts looking to improve their services to English Language Learners. Earlier, I studied Spanish Language and Literature and Applied Linguistics at the University of Oregon and Portland State University prior to earning my Master of Education at PSU. During my college years, I was fortunate to live and work in the country of Colombia where I honed my Spanish language and intercultural skills. I am currently pursuing my Continuing Administrator Licensure at the University of Portland.
I am active outside my professional life as a busy mother of two who loves new adventures, the outdoors, and entertaining friends and family. While I adore living in the city with all the amazing cultural events and opportunities that exist here, I still think of the Oregon coast as my home. I love the beach and spend time on one any chance I can find.
