Principal's Message

Thank you for visiting the website of Gresham High School.  Gresham High is an historic institution that has been a pillar of the city of Gresham for well over a hundred years.  Today, our beloved school is home to roughly 1600 students and 130 staff members.  All of us are Gresham Gophers, and we are a community that supports one another and embraces the ideal that "Gophers Take Care of Gophers".

The Gresham Barlow School district holds certain expectations ("strategic goals") of all its schools.  These include:  fostering school cultures that value the backgrounds and experiences of all our families, developing strong instructional practices that are consistent across all teachers, and designing systems and teams that prioritize the success of students.  At GHS, staff members believe that if we can make progress towards these district expectations, the following generalized outcomes should occur:

  1. Staff will embrace teaming structures that consistently examine student data,
  2. Literacy and math instruction will improve for all students, and
  3. More students will achieve passing grades and be on-track to graduate.

Measurements for each of the above have been set, and my staff and I will do our best to achieve them, even if they involve a multi-year effort.  Achieving these outcomes comprise the three goals in our "School Improvement Plan" for the 2025-26 school year.

Goals for the future (like those above) are valuable, but how we operate right now is just as important.  For example, when it comes to promoting a safe school environment, each and every one of us in the GHS community has a crucial role to play: students, parents, guardians, administrators, teachers, support staff and community members.  Collectively, we also share in the responsibility to contribute actively to a hopeful school culture where all of us in our various roles give each other the support that we need to overcome the many challenges that we are sure to encounter.  "Gophers Take Care of Gophers" is the essence of this spirit.

On behalf of all GHS staff, we look forward to an amazing school year!
