3. Budget and Funding Proposals
- SIOP Training Request:
- Ms. Levey requested $226.84 from Site Council funds for SIOP training.
- Current Site Council Fund Balance:
- $10,295.00 (Before Ms. Levey’s request; subject to change after contract adjustments).
4. Issues to Bring Up with the Administration
- Door Access:
- Refer to the minutes from two meetings ago.
- Parent Communication Frequency:
- Request for more frequent communication than once a month. Refer to September minutes.
- Proposal for a parent newsletter to go out every other week or weekly.
- Recognition for Site Council Participation:
- Request for Site Council members to receive cords for graduation.
- Increased Presence at Middle School Events:
- Refer to the September minutes.
- Increased Attendance at Sports Events:
- Refer to the September minutes.
- Discussion on whether free entry for students in the free and reduced lunch program could be implemented.
- Clarification needed on whether the stands are full and the potential for financial transparency in these events.
- Mr. Zehar will inquire about the allocation of event funds.
- ASB Sticker Pricing:
- Discussion about making ASB stickers cheaper.
- Consider pushing more students to purchase ASB stickers.
- Seating Arrangements at Sports Events:
- Avery will ask Brink about the current seating arrangements.
- Cliff suggested considering cheerleaders under the hoop for better visibility.
- Luong will approach the district equity committee for their input.
- Avery will also inquire with the Government Relations and Safety Committees about potential solutions.
- Question raised: Is the $5 per student charge necessary?
5. Parent Communication
- Electronic Feed for Parent Communication:
- Refer to September minutes.
- Checking In with New Staff Members:
- Frank had a rough month and did not complete much communication last month, but he plans to engage more moving forward.
- Encouraging Parent Attendance at Site Council Meetings:
- Reference to Laura’s email from September 18th regarding increasing parent attendance.
- Website Updates:
- Frank has been tasked with updating the website and ensuring minutes are posted.
- Brad made updates last week.

- Frank recommended Jeanne check in with Barlow’s administration for additional information.
- Focus remains on approving funding requests aligned with Site Council goals.

- No prior funding requests this year.
- Requested 8 hours (approx. $200-$300).
- Motion Approved: Frank moved; Laura seconded.

- Requested half-day subs to align physical science curriculum.
- Discussion: Ensuring alignment stays with the school/program rather than individual teachers.
- Motion Approved.

Freshman Success (Karissa Slack)
- Requested funds to purchase books for teacher book study ($380 total).
- Discussion: Verify Karissa is aware this request will exhaust all available funds.
- Suggestion: Explore PDF versions of the book for cost savings.
- Approval pending follow-up with Karissa.

- StudentVue app lists homework assignments inconsistently.
- Canvas mobile app is not user-friendly.

- Can students submit their own Help Desk tickets?
- Who is the current point of contact for student tech issues?
- Frank to investigate further.
