Career and Technical Education

Gresham High School offers six career technical education (CTE) programs.

All of our programs are designed to provide students with industry standard knowledge and skills that will help them successfully transition from high school to post-secondary education, training, or directly into industry. The capital construction bond, passed in November 2016, is allowing the district to revitalize CTE classrooms, labs and shops.

Brad Cook

INTEGRATED MEDIA TEACHER

A 1996 graduate of Gresham High School, Brad earned a BFA in Graphic Design with a minor in Marketing from Oregon State University in 2000. After gaining experience at Nike and a small firm in Portland, he returned to school to earn his Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from George Fox University.

Brad returned to Gresham in 2003 to begin his teaching career. He currently serves as the Chair of the CTE and Health and PE Departments, and teaches Graphic Design and Photography. From 2006 to 2020, he also oversaw the yearbook program, during which time Gresham earned national recognition through the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) and the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) as one of the top yearbooks in the country. Notably, under Brad’s direction, Gresham won Best in Show at the 2020 NSPA National Convention.

In 2017, Brad was honored by the Northwest Scholastic Press Association as the Mary Hartman Oregon Journalism Teacher of the Year. Outside the classroom, he has been an assistant volleyball coach since 2011. He coached wrestling from 2002 to 2020 and returned to coaching in 2024.

Danna Nelson

BUSINESS MARKETING TEACHER

After working in private industry, Danna Nelson transitioned to Gresham High School in 2000, accepting a bookkeeping position. While working at the school, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. She first attended Eastern Oregon University, majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, and later earned her Master’s Degree from Western Oregon University in 2012.

Danna’s teaching career began at Gladstone High School, and she then moved to Centennial High School, where she helped build a Business, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship program. In 2015, she returned to Gresham High School, where she has since developed a strong Business program. As the advisor for DECA, Danna oversees a student-operated business, the Gopher Hole.

She values being part of the Gresham High School community and proudly embraces the school spirit, saying, “Once a Gopher, always a Gopher!”

Julianne Standish

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION TEACHER

Since beginning her teaching career in Washington in 1991, Julianne Standish has been a dedicated educator. She joined Gresham High School in 1995 and has taught there ever since. Julianne earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics Education, now known as Family and Consumer Studies, from Oregon State University, and later completed a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Her passion lies in preparing young people for careers in early childhood education, focusing on children from birth to age eight. She emphasizes the importance of positive guidance and professional skills, which she believes are essential not only for success in the workplace but also for future parenting.

Married to her best friend since 1990, Julianne is the proud mother of two grown sons.

Becky Wiley

CONSTRUCTION TEACHER

Becky Wiley's career has been shaped by a blend of practical experience and a passion for teaching. After high school, she earned a softball scholarship to community college before working in the construction and landscaping industry for six years. Afterward, she decided to pursue a career in education and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education (BSE) in Health and Physical Education from the University of Kansas.

Wiley spent seven years teaching Health and PE in Kansas City, Kansas, before relocating to Oregon in 2016. There, she taught Physical Education for four years. In 2022, she transitioned to a new role as the Construction Trades teacher at Gresham High School. With her background in both education and the trades, Wiley is excited to bring a unique perspective to the classroom and inspire the next generation of students.
