Automotive Technology

Automotive Technology Program Overview

Gresham High School's Automotive Technology Program provides students with a variety of skills and knowledge in the area of autmotive mechanics. Students learn fundamental theory and experience working in an automotive shop where they apply principles using industry standard tools and equipment. Partnerships with multiple automotive specialty programs at Mt. Hood Community College allows students to earn college credit while in high school. This program provides a valuable foundation for future careers as an apprenticeship mechanic, automotive technician, or service manager.

Mike Ruff is a 21 year veteran teacher, and ASE Master Technician with experience as a technician in the Automotive, Diesel, and Heavy Equipment industries.  He attending the Oregon Institute of Technology where he was awarded with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Diesel Power Technology followed by a Master of Arts in Teaching from Oregon State University.  He enjoys all aspects of outdoor life specifically water sports, mountain biking, snowboarding, but his favorite pastime is producing metal art for art shows and galleries in Portland and Hood River.
